As much as I loved shooting film, I have moved on. Nothing can compete with instant viewing for tweaking camera settings .. especially when shooting in the wilderness.
It was almost a throwaway. Fortunately, I always apply the old carpentry axiom to culling images: measure twice, cut once.
I showed him a few select photos from the Idaho Panhandle this summer, and then we talked about the effects of environment on health and sanity. He said it was no wonder that my BP was rock solid in the 110/65 neighborhood, my ticker sounded great, my blood glucose and creatinine have dropped into the "normal" range for the first time in years, etc., etc.
We need to live the simple life. My new motto is "You tell me what you need, and I'll tell you how to do without it."
As usual, it takes me a couple (or more months) to go through the thousands of images I take during the Summer. And this year those include photos from the Oregon coast in late June before I climbed up the tower in Idaho, and then photos from the Badlands National Park that I visited on my drive back to SC after I climbed down. But about 80% of my 2025 images are from the fire lookout tower (and surrounds) in the Idaho Panhandle.
