...grants them the rights to use your images in pretty broad ways:

"With regard to any file or content you upload to the public portions of our site, you grant Postimages a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable worldwide license (with sublicense and assignment rights) to use, to display online and in any present or future media, to create derivative works of, to allow downloads of, and/or to distribute any such file or content, including embedded (hotlinked) into third-party websites otherwise not affiliated with Postimages."
https://postimages.org/terms

That is why I've used Flickr for a long time. They do not require you to give them rights to your images.

You do not give up copyright with either, but if Postimages sees something they like you've already given them permission to use it--even to "create derivative works" of your images.

Like I said: it may not matter to anyone here, but just FYI if you are a creator.

…but stopped providing full links (down to the .jpg suffix) sometime last year, and DU can’t handle such links.

I’ve found the only way to post photos here is to upload them to a Pixelfed account and then extract a link from there, but it’s a really cumbersome procedure, and I’ve basically stopped posting photos here because of it.

I wish DU could find a way to host photos locally, like virtually every other social media site does.

You are limited to 1000 pictures or videos on the free account, but that is a manageable amount of space.

It is easy, but you have to do one thing:
- Select the picture you want to share and hit the share arrow at the bottom right of the page.
- Select BBCode
- Copy the image URL located between the first [img] and the first [/img]
- Paste that into your post like so:

You can actually post it all, but it leaves a lot of nonsense behind around your picture.

HTH!

The "canonical" thread on how to post photos is pinned in photography forum
Thanks to CurtEastPoint.

I have lately used postimages.org. imgbb.com and when they slowed down temporarily, I found 8upload.com

Use "direct" or "hot" link, though with imgbb, I end up removing anything up to "src=" and after "jpg" in the image URL. The rest is extraneous.

And I post a lot of images.

None of the old image links I have posted on DU have gone stale
