https://www.democraticunderground.com/117912302Referencing this post from December, my 5 entries (page 11) were part of 500 submitted for the digital gallery, and one, Bob Hope USO Christmas show of 1970, was chosen to be printed and framed for the physical gallery display. They chose one other to represent USO tours, the one above mine of Marilyn Monroe visiting Korea in 1954, good company to be in!
The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is in Ybor City, home of the Tampa Cigar industry from the beginning of the last century. It is now an artsy/bar/restaurant enclave just outside of downtown Tampa. After visiting the physical photo gallery, I snapped a few street scenes, including a couple of flashy roosters that are allowed to roam freely throughout the town. Enjoy!

(40,742 posts)The roosters are great! My grandparents had bantams & one that looked just like that bottom one with the glossy blue-black feathers.
Are you the DUer who posted drone photos several years ago?

(10,317 posts)but no, not in the war, and I'm 76. I was there 17 years after the cessation of hostilities, but it was barely better than combat conditions, dirt roads, lots of minefields, and cold as hell.

(15,104 posts)the cold. He had a photo of him with a beard that was full of ice. As I recall, the war was a shit-show between MacArthur and Curtis Lemay - followed up by the Domino theory. and Viet Nam.
The hero of it all was Bob Hope. I recall the story as best as I can- Bob Hope hosted the Christmas show for years. During the Nixon Administration, Bob wanted to take the Village People on one of the tours. Some one told Nixon that the Village People shouldn't be on the tour because of their subliminal sexual message.
Bob told the USO officials, if they don't go, I don't go.
Bob and the Village People were on the bill for the tour.

(10,317 posts)credit to my wife, the photo had to be at 1/60 sec and she did a perfect job of holding steady. Anything over 1/60 had banding from the lights.
