Side note: I am re-reading "Prisoners of Silence" by Jonathan Kozol. There is a review by George McGovern which makes me sad for what should have been:
"Prisoners of Silence is a blueprint for action. Capitalizing on the untapped idealism of our youth, channeling their enthusiasm toward salvaging the wasted potential of the illiterate...where the teacher can learn as much from the student, as the student can learn from the teacher".

I think he would have been a wonderful President.

I chose George McGovern for my username because I voted wholeheartedly for
him in 1972. Broke my heart when he lost. I consider Mr. McGovern the greatest president who never was.
