Animal update

Yesterday we saw moose, caribou, a porcupine, and three grizzly bears - a sow and two yearling cubs - right by the side of the road. You're going to love them. Also lots of swans and ducks, ptarmigan, and gorgeous scenery.

Not so many animals today, but it's beautiful here in Haines and the skies are clearing. The weather gods are smiling on us ... Anchorage had snow yesterday and today.

on my real computer so I can download my cards. I assure you, the bears will amaze. They were just across the road from us...I kept the truck between me and them. The cubs, which were almost as big as the mother, were fighting over a piece of trash they had found, probably somebody's food wrapper. They didn't even seem to notice we were there.

I didn't realize you would be doing it that way.

I have a laptop that I take along on trips, and I upload the pics daily so I can label them, and post them.....

It's a nice way to do it.

The bears do sound amazing!

Waiting for the Pix too!
I was headed to Alaska in 1999,
but got Shanghaied by my (now) Wife while Passing Through Minnesota.
Somehow, we wound up in Arkansas?

Anyway, I follow your posts about Alaska, and the cable shows about Panning for Gold, Living in the Last Frontier, & Flying the Bush in Alaska with some unrequited voyeurism,
but have no real regrets.

We DO have some young Road Runners that hatched out and are Running-the-Road to our cabin, but they have proved to be very difficult to photograph.

Always enjoy your posts, my friend!

We'll be back in Anchorage around the 30 th, and I'll try to post a few pics to DU right away and then work on a gallery for SmugMug. I'm getting some really amazing shots. The ferry ride from Haines to Juneau this afternoon was absolutely splendid with a.phenomenal 360-degree sunset. I don't know how I'm going to winnow these down to a few, especially since we're only on Day 4 and still have 10 days to go. This coming week is supposed to have great weather down here (a rarity in SE Alaska).

Anchorage had snow Friday and Saturday, breaking some records, but we've had sunshine almost all the way.
