I was listening to NPR this morning. They had a photographer on as their guest.

It was fun to listen to NPR. Yeps, I'm such a liberal lefty.

It was fun to listen to a professional photographer. He admitted that luck had a lot to do with his great pictures.

I take tons of photos and I hope one of them will be special. I hope luck will grant me a time and place for a great picture.

3. I have taken several classes and been to

a bunch of Photo Seminars over the years and at the end of each, they all invariably say "Take Lots of Pictures", leading me to wonder why did I just give you guys $60.00 or whatever for the privilege of you telling me to go take lots of pictures?

I was doing some Senior Pics for The daughter of a friend who being a single Mom on a tight budget couldn't afford the Pro Photographer thing recently. I told them I was willing to do it, but they were not getting a photographer, but a guy with a camera and we were simply going to take lots of pictures and we were bound to hit something good. When we were all done over the 4 sessions, they got a flash drive with about 600 shots. Some were terrible, some okay and some were really good.

So Take Lots of Pictures!

but, in this particular case, I didn't have to make that decision. I just gave them everything I had and it was then their call. Came out easy in that sense for me.

6. That's it. If others like it, great. If not, so it goes.

I find the more I have to do to make an image work, the less chance it will. It is clear from the get go if the image is good. There is doubt around those not that good.

7. Agreed

I am not much of one to spend time with photoshop or do anything beyond an auto enhance or crop to photos. If it works for others, that is fine and their choice. I just want to get something I like or in this case they are okay with, for their pics. It's a hobby for me and I never want it to be more than that (turned one hobby into a business years ago and it killed the enjoyment factor of that hobby so I never want to do that again).

As I said I am not a photographer, just a guy with a camera who sometimes gets lucky.

8. I'm retired so I am allergic to anything that seems like work. I keep post processing

to the minimum.

10. For me

That's one of the easiest parts. I tend to work in series so I have a pretty good idea what I'm looking for and how they work with the other pieces and I've made it a point not to second guess myself.
