Comments about the December contest

The switchover happened while I was kind of asleep at the switch - which means faster than I anticipated.
Since there is no poll function programmed into the new DU3 at this point, it's not possible for me to run the contest.

I am saving the entries we have so far by entry name/ photographer name/ and location of the photo. Therefore none of your work or your entries are lost.

I will resurrect them as soon as I have the ability to run the contest.
We are a bit under 20 entries so far. I will poll both the new and the old DU for more entries and save them.
That is all I know to do in this transition.

There are some off-site poll hosting places. Tindalos Dec 2011 #2

I remember the calendar used one a couple of years ago, but I don't know what was involved in setting it up.

made sure we have a calendar this year, because that loss made me unhappy.

It's unfortunate that the switchover is happening while I am hostess. Since I am, the contest is in limbo until there is a polling feature available. I'm not willing to step outside DU to create one.

I'll happily email the file that holds the info about the submissions to a new host/hostess who wants to use an off site polling place.

Perhaps outside polling?

I dunno.

I got a lot of faith in you! (I really do)

I think you're doing exactly the right thing!

We can wait to start the contest...

I expect polls to be available before we need them, anyway...

Hugs to you!

... are the themes published in advance? How does one submit a photo to the contest?

The theme is determined each month by the host, who is the winner of the last contest. The host can specify a theme, or ask for suggestions and then poll the group. Then the theme is announced.
I submit my photos from my photobucket account, I bring in the link, give it a name, and post it in the submission thread. Others do it in other ways from other host sites.
I just posted the ongoing submission thread in DU3, you can go look at it and read the rules.
Hope this helps.
