...I went to the Luxor last night to practice my night photography. Here are a few shots:
This large statue sits atop the Luxor entrance. I tried to center it so the beam appears to shoot right out of its head. For some reason the beam looked very blue in most of my shots, don't know why but I like how it looks so did not try and change it.
Luxor beam with palms:
The lens artifact in the beam looks kind of UFOish to me; in most of my shots it was outside of the beam but it was right in the center for this one:
The obligatory B&W shot:

(10,751 posts)...hope you enjoy your visit. We'll be well into the chilly winter weather next month -- which for me beats the summer heat any day!
Where will you be staying if I might ask?

(60,334 posts)I know, the weather in Dec is quite chilly and if that wind blows wow. It still beats Cleveland.
I always walk the strip in the evenings during these conferences to get the exercise and see the sights. Gambling has priced me out.

What I like about that shot is the palm trees that give a sense of scale to the statue.

I would love to see some real Egyptian ruins. Or Roman, Incan, Grecian... so many things to see! Alas, my dreams of world travel don't look likely anytime in the near future.
