How I use Photobucket to get photos onto DU. Others may use a different method and can add their way in the comments. Also others use different programs and should feel free to also add a how to in comments.
Log into your Photobucket account and go to your Home page. Click the orange (for now) upload button.
Drag the photo/s you want to upload into the box.
Wait for them to finish uploading.
Go find your photo in your library and click on it.
When it loads you will see "Links to share this photo" on the right. Click on Direct. It should highlight and say Copied.
Paste into your post...
When you are finished preview your post. If everything looks good post your thread.
I don't edit in photobucket so for help there I would ask someone that does or just play around with it. Playing is a great way to learn.

(1,771 posts)Thank you for taking the time to do this. I'm sure there are more than a few DUers out there that would like to participate by sharing their photos but are clueless on how to go about it.
Again. Most excellent.

(130,864 posts)NOW just have to get 'into' photobucket!

(18,219 posts)I have been using old instructions I found posted years ago on the DU group in Flickr, and didn't want to learn any other ways because I had so much trouble learning it the first time. This sounds easy, and I love that it is pinned so I will find it easily.

(130,864 posts)Your explanation helped me (really my techie friend) get into photobucket and then post my first pic here!!!
More later.
and you needing help got me to finally do it. Love seeing your pics and where your cottage it. Hope you start posting lots though looks like MD is in its ugly season. Pre xmas lights, cloudy skies, bare branches and mud around here. Or dried mud depending on the day.

(130,864 posts)here's another one of those 'boring' sunsets!
CC
(8,039 posts)blue water shots along with the beautiful sunsets. Love the photo! A small critique water always levels itself so when you have water on the horizon you want to try to get it straight. I say try because in my experience sometimes it can be hard to do. I can hear the first person to point this out to me saying it over and over in my head now every time I see water pics.
elleng
(130,864 posts)as I have, and likely will have water in most of my pics.
'Horizon' here not really level, as its largely the other shore of the river, which has its ups and downs, tree-wise.
Don't know that there will be much soon, as clouds and rain predicted, and probably leaving here in a couple of days for business closer to town AND daughter about to give birth. Will try to keep up with weather forecastsbut let me know, please, if you hear of a good patch. Can be here in about 2 hours, if not otherwise occupied!
Have you seen this? I love it!

Editing to add. I stole your picture. I straighten the water's horizon line up in PhotoShop and then had to crop it a bit since I turned it. That way you can see where and what I was talking about. It is a beautiful photo in a beautiful place. I'm almost jealous but just happy you can share the beauty.

(130,864 posts)May be able to get one for cottage. I have a bunch of walls around here!
CC
(8,039 posts)print worthy photos of your own. I'd love to get a photo of the Thomas Point lighthouse during the blue hour. Hmmmm might have to make a cold road trip.
I haven't been to any yet, but just got here.
Check out Southern Maryland Photography. He's on FB, and has quite an array.

See the three dots on the bottom right? Click them and select "View all sizes." Now right click the image and copy image URL.
If it works out, this image should appear when you preview/post.
Practice using the first link from above. His name is Don and he's a dedicated human rights activist and foster parent.

(47,397 posts)So I played around with it and came up with how to copy photos to DU with the new format.
-On the lower right hand corner of the photo there are three icons
-The middle one is an arrow
-When you hover over that it will say "Share this photo"
-Click the arrow and then click BB Code
-Copy the code and paste it in your post

I really didn't want to move my photos to Shutterfly whenever I wanted to post them, so this is really cool!

(60,071 posts)way to do it.
PatSeg
(47,397 posts)the complex way - right click on an image, click inspect element, copy the code, etc., but it didn't work on all images and all sites. It was really time consuming.
alfredo
(60,071 posts)PatSeg
(47,397 posts)but some images on some sites didn't have a jpg option. I suppose it is some kind of copyright protection.

Lorien
(31,935 posts)and in those seven years the site hasn't evolved past 2002 technology, despite hundreds of thousands in contributions. Pretty sad.
CC
(8,039 posts)do with how to post a picture from Photobucket? Sorry to hear you dislike DU's technology or lack there of. Not sure what it has to do with the how to post a photo tutorial or the photo group and find it odd to see the comment here. I'd think there was a better place to comment on DU technology. You are welcome to comment on and post photos though. We always like to see other people's vision and how they capture with a camera.
Liberal Insights
(109 posts)You are so right, Lorien. And it's shameful that CC berated you for speaking the obvious truth. And the best place for your post is right here, where people come to discuss how to post graphics in their posts, and you are pointing out that DU shouldn't be making that so damned complicated!
If we Americans have contributed anything to the world it's that "Competition makes everything better."
DU won't even let people LINK to their rivals, so you'll have to take my word for it, or look up "LiberalForum". All you need to do on their forum is click on an icon for graphics, insert the URL for that graphic, click OK, and it's there!
And besides that feature, it's easy to do any number of other things, like color and resize your text, play with the HTML code - if that's up your alley - , center text or images, indent, format lists, etc.
So, why CC, do you want to shut up people who would like to improve DU ? Instead of expecting hundreds of DU users to jump through all these complicated hoops - that even a 30-year IT guy like me has a hard time doing - why not get DU to find ONE person to make it easier for all of the rest of us to accomplish common forum tasks?
CC
(8,039 posts)supportive place that has to do with photography. "Discuss photography as an art, skill, and means of communication, as well as share photographs. Professional, amateur, digital and traditional film are all welcome." We even have people that prefer old technology like film cameras and pinhole cameras. So if you would like to participate and post photos please do. We love seeing other people vision and what they capture. If all you have to offer is complaints about the place you chose to visit of your own free will and try to send people to other sites it is best you reads the rules and the community standards.
If you want to ask about the technology used on the site or that runs it or about TOS the place to do that is here. There may be other places to ask your questions and lodge your complaints but I'm sure such a knowledgeable person as you claim to be can find them all by yourself.
Fluke a Snooker
(404 posts)I disagree with that sentiment with regard to Americans. While that sentiment may have existed in the past, it has been widely discredited by forward-thinking progressives as capitalism is now (and frankly, should always have been) discredited.
A BETTER analogy would be "COOPERATION makes everything better." Agree?

(67 posts)After reading this method, i got to know how to post one photo to DU.
At first, i'm afraid whether i can do something i interested in if i don't know how to do, now i am not afraid any more. At the same time, i am confident in myself and this forum, there must be one key to problem if one wants to solve it.
Here i'd give my thanks to you, i believe that this forum will be better and better if members of it can find ways to deal with their problems.
