1. I actually posted this over in the lounge in case anyone wants to get outside

My father was an amateur astronomer--a pretty serious one--
and I don't remember him ever calling it by name. And I'm sure I've seen that effect previously. Interestingly, the sun was setting--but much farther south and west than the camera, which was pointed east. There was some of that effect southeast, but looked more like normal sunset effects. |

8. How true! We have a hill blocking our view of the sunset though, here.

9. Move. ;) My house is on a hill, and the front faces SE. Sunrises and the Belt of Venus
are what I see daily. I rarely see the sunrise. I'm retired so I don't need to get up that early.
