Some old houses, trees and a gas station in New Iberia, Louisiana

I took these on a recent trip to my mother's hometown.

The next (kinda spooky)house belonged to a relative who was a US Senator.

I still have some of his campaign memorabilia and stationery.

1. Absolutely beautiful - thank you for sharing!

I lived in Louisiana for a while and I really miss it sometimes, particularly around April and early May which I always thought were the best times to be in south LA. Your photos have triggered (and partly assuaged) that 'homesickness'...

5. You're very welcome!

We were in New Iberia earlier this month when the weather was perfect, and I fell under the spell of the place.

2. I love these old historic houses!

The big wrap-around porches, the gracious grounds surrounding, all of it.

Thanks for sharing!

4. I love this!

I esp. like the photo of that ancient oak with branches touching the ground.
There is a similar one in Mobile...rather, i hope it is still there, dunno after Hurricane Ivan.

i can almost feel the air in your photos.

10. There are some amazing old trees there.

We saw one oak that is estimated to have been planted in the 1630s.

Glad you like the photos!

14. Good to see you, Mira!

Thanks for checking in! So happy you enjoyed the photos.

There's a park in New Iberia that has an old Navy jet on display. I asked my mother to pose beside it with her hand on the wing.......
