Related: About this forumUntil just this minute I did not think to share with you that I was involved in a 48 hour movie
I was talking to someone about it, and then it occurred to me that even though its a little movie, I was the one who hand held my Sony Alpha 65 and shot the damn thing so my DU photo friends might get a kick out of it.
This link tells you what the project is
https://www.48hourfilm.com/
We had a crew of 7 dedicated folks to write/ stage/ and produce, and 2 professional actors and some of the crew acted as well.
Then we put out the little movie in 48 hours about a month ago (mistakes were made that could not be fixed in time).
Now it turned out that we were an audience favorite, and tomorrow night we are going to be shown as one of Greensboros best, with some win attached that we dont yet know.
I would wait and tell you about it when its done, but I have to leave and be with my Mom who is sick.
More about the Greensboro films, if you care.

So here is a link to the movie, I hope you like it.
The genre is picked out of a hat.
One is given a prop to use, a phrase to incorporate and a character to mention.
After that we write, stage and shoot a movie in 48 hours, and you cant be late even a minute turning it in!
I am an idiot when it comes to computer finesse, but when I copied this link and pasted it, it played!
Please like it, this was an incredibly hard and exciting first try.
We want to do this again next year.

(15,812 posts)It looks like fun, too. Saw it and really liked it. Very quirky and can see why it was an audience favorite. And your name in lights!
Will be thinking about you and your mom. Sending vibes.

(22,380 posts)There were 26 movie submissions in Greensboro
Of those there were 13 that received audience awards or others and we were one of them.
We got to see the 13 in an old timey Southern Art Deco gold encrusted theatre on the big screen. The director who gathered the crew had a fancy camera she paid thousands for and it did not work.
there I was with my Sony Alpha65 -handheld- to save the day, and I had never used it for movies!!!!!
And I was absolutely blown away. I felt like being in that group was such an honor, that next year, we will be rising to meet the others, I am psyched.
What we did win is best actor, he is very credentialed, a member of the screen actors Guild, we were proud to have him, and he did a great job
Onward and upward. For the first year I think it was absolutely marvelous to go up against these people who have done this year after year. They have gotten better and better. So will we.

(15,812 posts)I love this story. I totally wondered why you and your Sony got involved in this. I mean, nothing against your camera but I thought at least it would be a dedicated video camera. LOL you never had used the movie feature. What an absolute hoot!
Did you even know your team members, or were you just hanging around looking for photo opportunities?
So who edited your clips?
Glad you all got rewarded. I looked and there is one of these competitions in Memphis and I may go to the showings of the winners in a couple of weeks.
How is mom? Healing vibes to her.
