Kind of a mix, taken and played with over the years. I think it's long past time to get with the manual focus.

(7,372 posts)That's the Crescent City Lighthouse! Only accessible at low tide...I'm glad tp see a low tide shot. I was there twice in the last year - once going down and once back up!
That's one of my favorite ares of the country Hwy101 from say, Arcata, up to Coos Bay. Redwood country, the Klamaths, plus very few people. And for that neck of the woods, good weather!

We've spent a fair amount of time up there over the years. Most of these shots were taken on a 25th anniversary camping trip. We towed a tent trailer up the coast for 10 days, and the weather was near perfect the whole time.
The only hitch in that trip was when brilliantine here decided to take a shortcut over the mountains from Brookings to Kerby. I can still sense the bitter recriminations (silent though they were) radiating from my wife's side of the cab of the truck.
That road looked absolutely reasonable on the map...

(156,620 posts)I esp. like the two of the lighthouse at low tide and high. I would love to live in such a place!
What a great collection you're sharing with us. I hope there will be more.

(19,459 posts)I'll probably put them up in a day or so.
The country up there is gorgeous, and there are plenty of nice places to stay. Well worth a road trip from Manhatten Beach if you ever feel so inclined.

(19,459 posts)It is a historic shrimping village located on a more sheltered portion of San Francisco Bay. It is on the northern side (Marin side) of the Golden Gate.
