Yesterday, before the storm

I had the pleasure of meeting Tomkitten for the Great Camera Handoff. My D300 now has a good home. I hope he posts a photo of what he's upgrading from.

On the way back from the rendezvous I stopped at Monticello Dam to check the water level. In better (wetter) times, this outlet is fully covered and has a tremendous whirlpool going on. Water's a bit low for that now.


There is some really interesting geology in that area, too.

I love geology, and those formations are really cool. I am always curious about what forces formed these rocks. I can see the upthrust that caused the sedimentary layers to tilt up----that is a lot of power to do that. Then I look at the couple of thick layers and wonder how those ones formed.

But this is not the Science group......nice photos.
