The Photographer: Self Portrait

I thought it might be fun to see who is behind the camera most of the time
by turning the camera around and pointing it at ourselves.

I'll start with a shot I took while returning from our weekend trip to DC to see the cherry blossoms.
We rode the train--which was fun!--and it was a real challenge to get a shot without a blurred
background (shot was taken while moving) and lighting that felt right.

How about the rest of you? Care to share a selfie?!?

I'll rummage around and see if I can find a selfie. I'll be hard pressed to find one as good as this, though.

This was a fun little project to keep myself entertained while my husband was taking a nap and I didn't feel like
reading. It was pure serendipity that the outside landscape corresponded to a decent interior shot while moving.

As it is, I have to sneak up on mirrors to keep from cracking them with my horrifying visage.

We decided to upgrade to a 'roomette' on the trip back. They are tiny, tiny,
private cabins to accommodate two people. There was an upper berth--which the attendant
put down--where my husband was napping. That meant I had the two reclining seats-- which
faced each other--to my self. We sat in coach seats on the way up and were surrounded
by a family with 4 kids--all well behaved--but one young enough to need constant attention
and supervision. And the cell phones! On planes you can't use cell phones, but on the train
everyone was having a conversation! So, you nailed it: it was worth the extra $$ both for my
husband to nap and me not to listen to constant chatter! We still ended up paying less than it would
have cost to fly. DC was SO crowded--awful traffic--that driving would have been a nightmare. We took
the train and used the Metro. Piece of cake.
