Supermoon Saturday

Supermoon Saturday

The blog post chronicles my novice attempts to try to get a shot of the supermoon from a rocking boat, on a night with heavy haze, and inadequate equipment. Here are a couple of the photos, the first being a practice shot from the prior night (remember I like backlit!). And I don't cover up my failures, although the experience was a lot of fun.

A lot of them (but not all) have the negative space thing going on.

Had to do a bit of editing in the first to make it more of a silhouette. Photo editing is fun--I didn't do anything out of the ordinary but the photo had an entirely different feel after I was through. And, I would know that look anywhere.

Without the right lenses, etc., I could not compete on detail of the moon for sure. And there were no landmarks to compare the size of the moon, so this isn't that kind of photo either. I totally had to try to capture the feeling. I have to say that this photo is exactly the feel of being out on the boat during the Supermoon event.

A lot of my photos came out like this-- reminded me of those old "double exposures" of my youth!

It really was pretty funny. We never get out in the boat after dark so this was a bit adventurous for us.
