my grandfather passed away on monday and we just got back to co from ny earlier this evening.
my grandparents lived on the queens side of the east river at the base of the throgs neck bridge and a view of the whitestone from the living room and den. they'd lived there for years, but i never really had a camera. grandma passed in 08 and i hadn't been out there since june 09. i knew i had to take the camera this time because i don't know that i'll ever have this sort of opportunity again.
he was a photographer and it spread through the family and i feel this is an appropriate final tribute to him.

You are honoring his memory and his contributions with these lovely photos.
And you carry his artistic spirit inside you.

Those are some nice views of quite an impressive bridge. I especially like the 3rd shot and the first sunset pic. Looks like a NY sky, hazy and muggy looking. They bring back memories...
When I was 5 we lived in Queens for a year. I went to the first grade there until Christmas vacation, then we moved to Hollywood and I've been a west coaster ever since. I remember wearing a suit to school, that was the norm back then! (early 60s)
One time we went to Freedomland (NYC's answer to Disneyland, I suppose) and I remember seeing that bridge and thinking it was called the Frog's Neck Bridge! (I suppose I wasn't the only one to call it that)
