*****October Contest Theme: PERSPECTIVE--look up, look down, move around*****
Perspective in photography can be defined as the sense of depth or spatial relationships between objects in the photo, along with their dimensions with respect to the viewpoint (camera lens or the viewer).
In researching techniques to use to provide perspective in photos, I found some great examples, and advice, in these articles:
Whenever you’re shooting a landscape, a monument, an insect, or a jewel—anything that you want to convey the impressive size of (whether its impressively big or small)—look around your frame carefully. Does it include something that will give viewers an indication of scale? If not, move around until it does or find some other way to work in a recognizable element. Not arbitrarily—it needs to work with the tone and composition of your photograph. If you want us to feel it’s really big or small, show us. Get a little perspective on things. Just think of how it made all of us feel the first time we saw a photo of the whole Earth floating in space. It changed our perspective.

Photographers often fall into the bad habit of shooting everything we see from eye-level. We are walking around, something catches our eye, and we take a picture right from where we are standing. If you want to make an immediate impact in your photography, you need to get out of your eye-level (or tripod-level) rut. You need a change in perspective.
Sure, you can change your composition by zooming in or out with your lens, but if you want to change your perspective, you are going to need to move. Don’t let your feet, or your tripod, root you to the spot: get ready for some bending, turning, walking, and climbing.

I am going to be traveling from Sept 29-October 6. I will post the thread for Submissions around October 12th and will
accept entries for a week or until 30 entries have been submitted. Preliminaries will run for 3 days and Finals will run
for 3 days.
There's no constraint on subjects for your photos. If you need some ideas for subjects, take a look at the photos
in the links above. Let's keep the post processing to a minimum. Black & White photos and Color are both ok.

You already have the right idea, though, turning something upside down works, too!
I have visions and memories of stuff I already have, which is good, because I'm so busy hanging out at Herb's Herbs
But without a doubt, I'll go around my daily stuff with perspective shots in mind and make new photos.
