Seasonal contest

Since I am up for hosting the next seasonal contest, which was supposed to be Scenes of Winter, I thought I should check in and get some feedback. We're sort of past winter now and could jump over it and do Spring or go ahead and do Winter anyway.

Unfortunately I am going to be doing quite a bit of traveling in the next few weeks and am uncertain as to how reliable I can be as a host. I can do it in a few weeks or skip a few months and do something for summer later on. I don't want to bail on the group but I haven't been much of a participant lately. I hope to get back here in a few weeks when things settle down.

I welcome suggestions.

1. IMHO I would skip winter this year

and start with Spring. I have no clue who won the last one and haven't went looking. I am have been thinking about the dates the seasonal are run and running a poll about changing the dates. The biggest problem people seem to have is the season not really arrived or barely arrived when it is time for the contest making it difficult to get new photos for it. I was thinking it might be better if we ran each toward the end of the season. Example:

Winter March 1st

Spring June 1st

Summer Sept. 1st

Fall Dec. 1st

Those dates would give those at the most northern and southern climates a chance to take new photos of each season. Let me know what you think and I can run a poll. If June 1st is going to be a hassle for you Mz Pip I can run it. If you are going to be traveling you don't need a contest hanging over your head and I don't mind at all.


We can do Holidays as threads unless people really want to make them into contest and want to be permanent host of those contest.
I am also thinking about a way to resurrect the calenders.

Spring is barely going here on May 1; it's just now kicking in. June 1 would work perfect for me for spring.


I can do a winter contest any time between October 15 and May 1.

Hope all is well with you. Have fun and be safe in your travels. I'm OK waiting until Summer to resume the seasonal contests. We have the monthly contests going again and that should more than fill our time until you return.

Course, I'm easy. Whatever the groups decides is A-OK with me.

3. Winter? What winter?

Not only is it way past, there really wasn't much of one to be photographed in many places. I think we can forget winter for this year.
Spring, it looks to me is about over as well. We just got started anew with the monthly contests thanks to ManiacJoe, maybe we could decide to settle into the grooves of the new system with a couple more regular contests.

I'm in favor of settling the timing of the seasonal contests as CC suggests, and then start with the summer contest.

beginning September 1. My travels should be completed and I should be back home and settled.

If there is a consensus with that, it works for me.

Unless others have a better idea this looks like a truly fine plan to me. In the meantime, I wish you safe passage wherever you are. If it's in my neck of the woods, come see me this time. OK!?

9. Heading to NYC later this month

for the baby shower for our first grandchild! Then I'm going to Chicago in July then maybe back to NYC to meet the new baby girl. Will probably be gone for most of August too.
