Pigeon Key, a boat ride and another sunset

Tough time with choices but here goes

On the 10 min ride to Pigeon Key where a small museum commemorates the lives and times of the 480 men who lived there while building the Flagler railroad and the bridges we saw some great sights.

Come along

We go under the old bridge that carried the railroad which is left standing and the new famous 7 mile bridge that was built to replace it

Here you can see the old bridge it has sections removed to make sure no cars go on it. The railings are made of the old train tracks, it was a road for a little while after the railroad stopped running after the labor day hurricane in 1935 that devastated the Keys. To the left, the new 7 mile bridge.

A lion fish in an aquarium. They are the scourge of the ocean, and one is encouraged to kill them when found. That's all I know about this.

On the return trip a wonderful cloud formation, showing us a wall of rain underneath it

Then we went back to the bridge at sunset and I have these I think are worth showing

Lovely pics, as usual, and love to hear about Flagler RR. He, Flagler, was a big part of development of Florida.

The Florida East Coast is still running.

Lionfish are venomous therefore having few enemies and aggressively prey on smaller fishes. Because they can tolerate temperature fluctuations you'll find them up and down the eastern coast of the US and in the Caribbean. Although a beautiful fish, great measures are being made to limit their numbers.

And . . . your sunsets are spectacular!

It appears your sensor needs cleaning. Check your lens first, just to make sure.

I had it cleaned less than 2 months ago, I' do it again when I can.
I apologize. For anything really worthwhile I suppose I can fix a shot in photoshop.

Glad you liked the sunsets anyway.

I don't even know where the sensor is. I stay grateful that this photo group is for everyone of all skill levels and gear knowledge.

I went to the same spot tonight, last night here, and it was a glorious sunset again, all different.
I have not downloaded them yet, but I have to just disregard the dirty spots, and I may not post any, unless I can't help myself.

but I love the boat photo. I think it has to do with the lighting (partially backlit), as well as the angle.

a very knowledgeable one, who gave a longer talk than any of the other times I've heard it. He used to be a UPS driver he said, on the OLD bridge, and he said it was terrifying to drive up there in two way traffic.

Once we had a guide, an older woman, so weathered I thought she was about 75. Turned out she was 23 years younger than that. She was smelling of booze and weaving. And she said she biked the bridge to her job on the island.
She is no longer there. This was maybe 12 years ago.
I kid you not.
