GOOD LUCK!

*Note, I actually prefer the blind contest. However, doing this on vacation would make that too tough. We will do the traditional submission instead.

This is not DOWN by the river

what makes this shot unique, is HOW one gets to this spot - the ABOVE picture is my submission

The lower one explains the uniqueness of it.

The submitted picture is taken on the Quebec side of the Ottawa river which splits Ontario and Quebec.

The above picture is taken from the town of Mattawa, Ontario.

One can boat across, but rather than leave a boat unattended, most people hike across the railway bridge in the picture, and follow a well worn trail to the top of the mountain. The encircled area is cleared for the Three Crosses that are lit by night with solar powered spotlights, provided and maintained private people in Mattawa.

It is from this clearing the submitted photo was taken.

"mattawa" in a local native dialect means "meeting of the waters", ergo the name of the town.

Looks like a real B&W enlargement, but the format is a bit weird so I'm thinking maybe it's a digital photo made to look as such.

At any rate it's interesting because most of the exposure goes almost to black with subtle contrast changes going all the way to saturation. It's a good subject for B&W.
