My cousins thought that a lunch at the Mensa as they called it - located in the court house - would be a good thing on our last day in Vienna.
I figured if they thought so, it would work for me.
Here they are, as we enter the building to go have lunch.
We arrived there, were frisked just like they do us in my court house, and then we walked through to enter the vestibule.
Are you picking up your lower jaw by your hands? I did.
This one I put in to show there seems to be business conducted here, I'm told it is the High Court, and yes, it's for real.
A nice view as we walked down
And here I wanted you to see it one more time.
Here I want to briefly come back to that we ate lunch. Outside on a balcony, this was some of our view, and the food, including asparagus soup (in season now) and two more courses was 14 bucks.

(22,380 posts)It was my last day in Vienna, and over the last few days I was involved with that. But I have Munich, I have Regensburg, I have so much more in abeyance I worry your interest will fade.
Thanks.
I was on the train to Prague this afternoon. Four hours. Vienna to Prague. About 25 bucks if you are cagey and shop in advance and if you don't show there is no refund.
It's what infrastructure and service to your people who pay taxes really means.
I'm not done. There is lots to process, and more to experience and photograph,
I'm having the time of my life, I'm feeling like my ship came in and I still had the strength to unload it.
Life is good.

(15,170 posts)Much of Wash DC is concrete slabs. Some of the older buildings obviously inherited some class from somewhere. Just like your asparagus soup as a counter example, we're mainly fast fake food.

(130,710 posts)And YES, the SEASON for asparagus! Returning through Frankfurt in 2000, everything on the menu included asparagus! Just learned, ours here did BADLY this year; was looking forward to some from my neighbor.

(22,380 posts)I saw Asparagus unlike any I have ever seen. White. In Bins. Sorted by thickness, and length. Awesome. I've had Asparagus soup about 5 times by now. But I'm really in love with liver dumpling soup and in Munich I found a cookbook that makes versions of it that I never knew existed.
Green asparagus was off to the side somewhere. Thin. Like what we see in our stores.
I see that asparagus, and I start singing the song "Veronika, der Lenz ist da" by the Comedian Harmonists.
If you want to know what I'm talking about google it. Or watch the movie.
"The Comedian Harmonists".

p.s. I'm researching liver dumpling soup. Sound intriguing and if you ate it five times, it must be good!

(2,143 posts)I thought the US Supreme Court was grand (and still do) but it doesn't begin to come close to the grandeur of this courthouse. Thank you for sharing the beautiful things you're seeing.
