Related: About this forumI realized today I always shoot black and white, even in color.
I was scanning my college BW portfolio today, and while I was archiving it I came across a bunch of digital shots that I had thought would be lovely but just didn't turn out nice at the time - being in the silver halide mindset, I converted them over and they went from "meh" to "Neat!" IMO. I guess since I grew up shooting black and white film, my subconscious just always goes there..
Technically, I used Calculations instead of a straight conversion for more control. I did the trees to look like a baby of TMax and Kodalith; the street scene is supposed to look like Delta 3200 but that was a bit hard to nail down.
Thoughts?

(40,099 posts)I think the b&w gives each photo a very graphic quality. You definitely have a good sense of composition! Very nicely done!

(36,925 posts)If color doesnt add interest to your image, you are probably better off shooting B&W.
