(4,305 posts)Thanks for sharing. I am still looking at mounds and mounds of snow. Your spring gave me a little warmth.

(149,620 posts)It is actually, for the first time, shirtsleeve weather today! I'm wearing a long sleeved mock t-neck with a sleeveless vest. I had to shed the vest, as it was too warm!.
So glad you enjoyed my photos!

a magnificent shot of poppies everywhere. Glorious! She said it was Walker Canyon near Lake Elsinore.
Here it is:

(149,620 posts)That's California's state flower, the Poppy.
I just love them and photograph them whenever possible.

(4,079 posts)I'm sitting here hunkered down with my kitty, looking out the window at snow from our biggest storm of the year so far (Colorado). Thanks for the reminders of SoCal.

(149,620 posts)We had way more rain this year than in many years.
Otherwise, our water comes from the California Aqueduct, and from the Colorado River, though this is changing.

(31,999 posts)I can just imagine the smell of the flowers and the beautiful butterflies flapping their wings!
Thank you for these beautiful photos! Maybe one of these days well have spring in Ohio, too!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,620 posts)I was really happy to see the butterflies all over the garden where I took these photos.
They don't sit still very long so getting a good shot is tricky!
I do believe you'll have spring in Ohio too, one sweet day.........
It will be glorious.

(10,127 posts)In CO we are not quite there yet.
Quick Q: are the flowers in the butterfly pics some sort of sage? The leaves have that sage-y feel to them, but the flowers look almost like lantana clumps.
Thx again.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,620 posts)I'm afraid I don't know what the flowers are. I'll see if I can find out.
The butterflies were all over them!
Thanks for coming by!

(14,889 posts)It's so nice to see color, other than white!
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,620 posts)The colors are wonderful indeed.........and we didn't have a white winter at all. Just gloomy, gray skies and rain nearly all the time.
I'm so glad it's over!

(9,899 posts)Weer in Wisconsin, and I wish I was home. Our daughter mention all the butterflies from the migration she saw, and all I could think about were the poppies that have probably bloomed in our yard.
Ive put in an application to a local company, and hope to get off the road soon. I miss So Cal, especially in the springtime.

(149,620 posts)It's great to hear from you! I hope you can come home and have a good job here.
Your poppies will be here next year, remember...

(2,042 posts)The grass is very green and the mustard is blooming. If you've never seen it, it's beautiful fluffy carpets of yellow, so wonderful.
We'll have poppies later but for now in the home garden, it's still daffodil time and the irises are very close. All this rain we've had is making a beautiful spring.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,620 posts)I love daffodils too, esp. in groups! The rain has really wrought an amazing spring.
