We've had a very whonky Spring, this year. I just noticed the flower buds on my my Mock Orange are all burned, even though we haven't had a frost. So, no fragrant blossoms outside of my bedroom window, this year. Hopefully the Lilac trees are ok.

My mother had big lilac bushes when we were kids. I love the smell lilacs so I planted two in my yard, got a few years of blooms off of them. One finally died last summer, the other is looking bad.

I live in Dallas and the winters are getting milder every year and lilacs need cold winters. I just planted a butterfly bush in the place where my lilac died. Butterfly bushes bloom in the heat of summer so I think the bush will survive.

it really looks surprised and openmouthed. Must be my imagination. Love the photo, and identify with your excitement. I always get crazy happy when they start to bloom.
