This place had a comfortable king size bed, and more importantly to me, an American sized bathroom. I actually had some room in the shower.

Barcelonins are (perhaps rightfully) a little upset that, thanks to Airbnb, tourists are now flooding residential neighborhoods. There's talk of legislation.

Airbnb units have to be registered with the city, and receive an official registration number. The goal is to limit the number of units taken off of the available residential rolls by vacation units.

Nice and Paris (among others) are doing the same thing. Our flats in Barcelona, Nice, and Rome were all registered, but there were a ton of units that weren't registered when I made plans for the trip.

I understand the anger. In cities with limited residential space, many units are unavailable because investors (often non-residents) buy up available units solely for vacation rental income, resulting in less units available for local residents, and increased rents for units that are available.

It was something of a problem when I was planning the trip as many of the units offered claimed to be in compliance with the city involved, but upon further investigation turned out not to be.

I understand that it is something of a dilemma for cities like Barcelona, where tourist income is wanted, but the massive influx of tourists changes things for the locals in undesireable ways.
