I managed to time this as best I could. Only using my Samsung Note 8, no filters, no adjustments aside from a slight zoom. We have a couple hummingbird feeders on our front deck. My wife loves feeding them and watching them flittering around.
I hope you like it.

(3,748 posts)Which Im sure youve answered before in previous postings. I like taking photos with my phone and think I have a good eye for it. In todays age of digital cameras how much equipment do you need to make the step up from point and shoot phones? What equipment do you use, and do you think we are living in an age of photography where less is more?
Again, beautiful photo!

(4,454 posts)I would defer to others in this group with much more knowledge and experience than I have.
The convenience of having a smart phone and the various manufacturers competition to have better cameras for every new model I think makes it much easier for amateurs like myself to take good photos.
I would also say that the almost unlimited space to take multiple pictures in various settings help.
After I took this photo, I started to think back to why I didn't use burst mode or possibly even slow motion video and have the option to pick a possibly better photo from a larger group and concluded that it was simply an "in the moment" shot.
Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you and others enjoyed it.

(14,421 posts)Ours are so used to us, I have a porch swing right next to the feeder and Ive gotten some incredible close-ups on my phone, iridescent colors shining in the sun. Unfortunately I cant post because of DUs photo posting acrobatics. Just doesnt work for me. I can post photos directly on all my other websites. Wish DU had the same method.
