(13,427 posts)to get this photo. The light this morning was perfect and there were three butterflies flitting around but I wasn't quick enough on most of my shots.

I think it is a moth. I had a beautiful swallotail, but could not get a picture. I have others posted in the gardening forum.
Peace

(10,733 posts)First word out of my mouth. Just breathtaking.
Could you tell us your setup (tripod?), camera, lens, settings, etc?

(13,427 posts)It was on a fully automatic macro setting. I didn't feel like digging out a tripod and the butterflies were moving all around, so I just shot a bunch of photos handheld. I think I just got incredibly lucky with this shot.
I looked at the image data and it was shot at 1/320 sec, f6.3, 40.9 mm.
I tweaked the exposure a little with Corel PaintShop and cropped the image a little to better center the butterfly, but that's about it.
Here's another photo I took yesterday as well. The flowers (lantana) in the background of this photo attract a lot of butterflies as well as hummingbirds. I keep promising myself to try to get a shot of hummingbird someday but I've never had my camera handy when one shows up.
