(9,685 posts)With a photograph of the top of a bin where someone took the time to pose some old wigs... the urban sense of humour makes me very happy indeed! hehe

Obviously a beach photo. Probably a sunrise. I'm so predictable! I did have another shot in mind until I remembered the pelican. I was torn about using Snowy. If we get a chance for a second entry...I'm in with it.

(31,374 posts)The challenge to the photographers was to enter a photo we have taken that makes us --the photographer--happy when we look at it.
Every time a photographer takes a shot she is trying to say something (I say she because I am ). So I am trying to convey my happiness--the person taking the photo--to my audience.
DU'ers who vote in the contest will want to evaluate the submissions keeping that in mind. Can the voter feel the photographer's happiness. If so, has it been done with interesting technique? Look at the framing, the perspective, the movement of your eye looking at the shot. How is color used. Do you feel different textures in the shot. How is light used. Voters should think about all these criteria for evaluating the quality of the photo against the theme with which we, the photographers, were challenged: to enter a photo that makes us happy when we look at it.

(31,374 posts)which was the Pelican at Dawn with The Waves!!!
I am at the beach. We had an incredible storm last night and this morning. The waves have been huge. Thunderous. I was sitting on the deck--watching them--with Snowy earlier this afternoon and a little girl was out with her mother on a walk. She started dancing. Jumping up and down...and of course my camera was inside. I ran in to get it and got ONE shot of her waving her arms before she was distracted by something else and stopped dancing.
I think this is going to become one of my favorite all time kid photos with water.
By the way, I am in the same house...on the same deck...where I took the photo of Snowy while I was having coffee when I was here last year in October. You can see the difference in the normal waves!
