Related: About this forumI can't figure out how to post photos from my downloads to DU.
The photo was sent to my phone and I got it to the downloads
section of my file explorer. I am computer ignorant, so if anyone
out there can explain how to do this, in simple steps, I would be
much obliged.

(115,683 posts)Go to https://postimages.org/ and set up an account (it's free). You upload your photo to the site, which produces a link for your photo. Then you copy the link and paste into your DU post and you're done. There are other sites like Postimage but that one works for me.

I'll try your recommendation.

(115,683 posts)They not only demanded money, it was a crazy amount of money - $399 per year - to hotlink images like other sites are doing for free. Weird business decision if you ask me.

(25,816 posts)and there are many links. Which one do I use?
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,683 posts)you'll see the message "upload completed" along with a thumbnail of your photo. Underneath that is a list of link formats; I assume this is what you're asking about. Choose "direct link" by clicking on the little icon to the right of the words. This copies the new url for your photo. Then come back to DU and paste the url into your post. I hope this helps.

(25,816 posts)By the way, I am a big fan of your legal expertise.

(115,683 posts)The real legal expert here is jberryhill, who is currently practicing; I'm retired and just watching from the sidelines. Pay attention to his posts when legal stuff comes up.

(13,485 posts)I have my own servers so I don't use the public ones. Most of the pics I'd use are from the net so they're already sized or I would have noticed they were too large or were loading too slowly when I found them. That option would come in handy if this were the case.
