They carpet the ground.

The structure to the left is the base Henry Clay's tomb.

Heavy clouds were no deterrent. I had to get out of the house

We all need to do that now and then--safely, of course.

(100,952 posts)enough to have been planted by folks who know that if you plant bulbs near a building foundation, they'll thrive and come up long before a lot of other things.
I like to go looking for early wildflowers and blooming trees in the mountains. The trees are budding, coralroots will be up in a few weeks. I like to seek out our native orchids, there are about 18 kinds in the state that I know of, coralroots are one of two kinds that grow here.

(100,952 posts)The daffodils and whatever else my landlord has planted that looks like them until they flower, those are all up and about 10" tall. We're expecting some warmer weather during the coming week so things will start looking a little more lively around here. Kind of tired of the dreary winter colors.

(100,952 posts)I've found that I focus on texture and contrast in light far more during winter where the rest of the year color is a major factor. I'm just ready for some color, it's been a hard winter, psychologically and spring's color always cheers me up. I'm ready for it. Plus I will be more fond of being outside when it warms up a little more. Didn't feel like being rugged outdoorsy this winter for some reason.

(100,952 posts)It took years for me to learn that I can't just do everything myself. Now I have to learn that enough is enough and I should stop pushing myself. I'm not an athlete anymore.

(100,952 posts)behind you there but I put great strain on my skeleton and it makes me feel like I'm 102, but I'm not quite 65 yet. Still, I'm feeling the urge to consider a slower pace these days.
