😃😀😜April Photo Contest Discussion Thread😁😲😊

Hello my lovelies

I have opened up the competition for entries.

The submission thread can be found here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/103674870

I will start the nagging in 24 hours to ensure we maintain momentum over the next 7 days. I thank you in advance for putting up with me on this but you know how I love managing these competitions.

Soph xx

EDIT: Chaps and chapettes who know better are playing hard and fast with the rules, please revisit you entries and and edit to meet the rules. You know the pixels!!!! Otherwise I have the very tedious task of contacting you and being like a headmistress in an exam. I want to nag to get more entries, not because the entries do not meet the rules.

You won't have to nag me, Soph! My shot is one of the green iguana "friends" I visit when I go to Bonaire.

5. The rules link

is here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/103673624

You need to use a web hosting site in order to get a link to post your photo.

Personally, I use postimages.org It's very easy. Don't have to register. And it will automatically resize your photo in accordance with the rules if you select the option 1024 x 768 (17 inch monitor) in the place for resizing your image. After you have uploaded your photo to the site, copy and paste the Direct link in the message space in the Submissions thread.

There are suggestions for other ways to upload your photo using other web hosting sites here:

"Bokeh is often most visible around small background highlights, such as specular reflections and light sources, which is why it is often associated with such areas. However, bokeh is not limited to highlights; blur occurs in all out-of-focus regions of the image."
Wikipedia link

With all due respect, this needs to be clarified in the text of the image submission page.

I got the spider photo quite accidentally--we had some painters who were working on our house and they were very soon going to take that web down--I had no time to lose!

Poor spider is no more, but s/he lives in my photo!

I went to my photo, right clicked on it, and then left clicked on View Image Info. Just checking on that pesky conformity to the rules requirement that an entry photo be no more than 1024 pixels in its longest dimension.

Had to go back to the archives to find one apropos. A columbine, unfortunately the plant died summer 2018 when we had that 113 degree day.
Haven't posted on DU more than a dozen times since you-know-hoo was installed, didn't feel much up to it after my sister died suddenly a couple weeks later. Also have moved from long time home Portland to So Cal... Blue Orange County to be a little more precise...!
Slowly starting to post again - why not? nothing much else to indoors these days!

Nice to meet you also and thank you for the nice compliment! I used to post fairly frequently a few years ago, I was really into taking photos after buying my first digital camera and going on road trips...Unfortunately I broke it (dropped it one too many times, things went "sproing" and that was that) but I have a replacement now, although not as nice (did take this picture with it though)
I just got an imgur account so hopefully will be able to share some photos here soon!
Again nice to meet you !

Sometimes you need to save the resize then reopen the image for it to stick. I am going to opening up the votes in a few minutes so have already made the changes!!!
