Best article I've found on what the Olympus divestment means.

https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/features/what-does-the-olympus-sale-mean-for-users-and-the-wider-camera-industry

JIP is the company that bought VIAO from Sony for the same reasons that Oly is selling the imaging division. It seems to have worked out well for VIAO as they have survived, offered new products, expanded into new areas and markets so let us hope it goes as well for Olympus cameras.

There seems to be no doubt that the product line will survive otherwise JIP wouldn't be interested in buying it. There seems to be no concern about servicing the equipment or availability of new product from the OEM and from third party suppliers like SIGMA. The only questions left unanswered are what will the new company look like and what will the developmental philosophy of that company be.

I literally wore that camera out. Also, the decline of the United States began when Kodak discontinued Kodachrome. Just sayin'.
