Good Morning DU'ers,
Hope everyone is keeping safe. Thought it might be time for another weekend distraction.
Back in March I had posted some pics from the route of VIA Rail's legendary transcontinental passenger train, 'The Canadian', which runs from Toronto to Vancouver. In this post, I attempt to take a more detailed look at the Canadian by including some scenes not shown in my prior post and also attempt to include more pics with human interest as well.
The pics are a composite of several trips aboard the Canadian in 2017 & 2019 and are from the following pages from my website at:
https://northamericabyrail.info/a-trip-on-via-rails-canadian-2017-toronto-on-jasper-ab-banff-ab-vancouver-bc/
and:

So without further ado, for those interested in taking another scenic land cruise across Canada from the comfort of your computer or smartphone let's pack our bags, grab our tickets and hop aboard for a trip into the vast Canadian wilderness, past sprawling prairies, glimmering cities, and through the majestic peaks of the Rockies.
Hope you enjoy!

(1,797 posts)I've also ridden Amtrak's Coast Starlight several times and I've been meaning to post some pics from it here in it's own post. Would like to do that again. Fingers crossed that the pandemic situation improves and the border reopens to recreational travelers in the near future.
Keep safe & thanks for checking out my post!

(1,797 posts)And for kicking my post.
I enjoy posting here in the photography forum and it's a relaxing hobby for me. It's always a pleasure to share my pics with such a great audience as the good people here on DU.
Keep safe and thanks again for checking out my pics!

(10,047 posts)did the Vancouver to Jasper, through the Fraser Canyon many years ago and loved it.

(1,797 posts)The Fraser Canyon for me was one of the highlights of the trip.
There are tracks on both sides of the canyon, one is the Canadian Pacific Railway and the other is the Canadian National & the two railroads share running rights where all trains (including VIA's Canadian) go westbound on CN and all eastbounds go on CP.
Hopefully the things take a turn for the better in the near future and the pandemic gets under control.
Likewise, I would also like to be able to travel to the U.S. again as there are a few Amtrak routes still on my bucket list.
Thanks again & keep safe!

(25,848 posts)I have tentative plans to take that train someday. I'd like to fly to Montreal, spend a few days there sightseeing, then get on the train to Vancouver. Another week or so there, then fly home, which is Santa Fe, NM. At this point I have no idea when I could make that trip, but I hope it happens at some point.
I have taken Amtrak a couple of times long distance, and just love doing that.

(1,797 posts)It's a pleasure when you have such a wonderful audience as yourselves!
It's an amazing trip and it sounds like you have an interesting itinerary, I hope you get a chance to do it someday under better circumstances, just like I hope to be able to visit the U.S. again sometime in the foreseeable future.
I've been through Lamy, NM & Albuquerque on Amtrak and would like to visit Santa Fe as well as Albuquerque one day -both for the architecture and art and to do a sort of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul tour of the show's locations and sights (been binge-watching both shows during the pandemic).
Thanks again, and keep well & safe!

(1,797 posts)I'm flattered!
Glad you enjoyed my pics, that's the reason I posted them - as a distraction for others (and myself as well).
Thanks again and most importantly, keep safe!
