Can I make a suggest about the current contest

I know I am late to the contest this month, but as submissions are a bit thin on the ground, how about we all DU mail 3 people we know who have submitted photo's in the past that we have not seen submit yet? I can think of several off the top of my head. It maybe won't open it up to newbies but it may flesh out the entrants a bit. What do you think? Mail with a link to the submissions thread? It can't hurt?

I've read the instructions numerous times. Damn if I can figure it out.

One time, I emailed a photo to a DUer and they posted it for me.

Once it has uploaded right click and open image in new tab

3. Let me try to help. This is a function of how DU works, not a contest thing.

I am using IMGUR.com. My use is not an endorsement, but the simplest way for me to instruct others.

Go to Imgur.com click on 'sign up' and follow directions (it's free).

Once creating an account, log in. You'll be taken to the home page with your user name in the upper right corner. Click on that. Scroll down to 'images', click there.

Now there should be an 'add images' bar in the upper right corner. Click that and the new page should say 'browse or drag images here". I know where my pics are stored, so I use browse. I can see thumbnails and double click on my choice which uploads it.

Once uploaded you can click on the image and it opens in it's own window. Bottom right corner has 'edit image'. Click on that and in the top right corner of the pic is the size, change the largest dimension to 1024, click elsewhere on the image then 'save'.

Open the pic again and on the right side is a menu. Second option down is 'Direct Link'. Click that and then open a reply to the contest thread in DU, do a ctrl V and the link is pasted in. Double check by using the preview function. If it's good, post reply and you're done.

Sounds complicated when explained this way, but once you get used to it you'll be done in less than a minute.

4. Sounds like a good idea to me if you know the recipient well enough.

Everybody I know well enough to be well received of such a request is already up there with an entry.

When the contest was posted I tried to figure it out, why can't you just post a picture? Has anyone mentioned that to the powers that be here? Signing up with and giving your photos to a third party is the drag for us that read all the Privacy policies excetera excetera

12. I believe the DU admins want us to use a photo hosting site to save DU's bandwidth.

And I think that's a reasonable request.

You do not have to be a member to use the upload function. Give it a try love.
