Don't feel bad about not recognizing it, in the years it has hung on walls both in my home and at my places of work the oft repeated comment was, "That's neat, what the hell is it?"

It is the 'C' pillar (the part that supports the roof next to the rear window) on a derelict late '40s early '50s Plymouth. The silver strip is aluminum (not chrome) trim that hides the joint between roof and rear fender. The texture is really thick rust.

It's a part of an old car, about an 2 ft x 3 ft section next to the rear window looking down and forward to the back of the rear door.
