Related: About this forumOk, I looked and did not find my answer..What kind of camera do you use and why?
I'm going to be in the market in the next few months and thought I'd ask. I did a lot of amateur photos 30 years ago and I feel the "itch" again...

(149,757 posts)Very reliable camera! The zoom is very good and it gives great wide angle shots at 18 mm and wonderful close-ups at 400 mm.

(15,973 posts)I have a few Nikon's D7200/D7100. We have purchased some old lenses and they work extremely well on our cameras.

(14,559 posts)I will still buy Olympus, soon to be JIP. If you want details on why I'm still confident in the brand, PM me.
As for why, it's smaller and lighter than anything in it's class, has the best image stabilization (I hand hold an 840mm lens at 1/15 sec), has the best weatherproofing in it's class and more advanced features than anything in it's class.
You've seen my work and can see more of it on my website. (sig line)

(31,411 posts)which I bought because it was light weight and fits my hands. It also easily fit--in its case--in my leather tote bag which I use as a handbag when traveling. Most of my shooting has been done while traveling and I didn't want to carry a lot of equipment or a heavy camera. It has its limitations, but for my purposes, has been fine.

(60,078 posts)Its a quality camera with good IQ. Its in body image stabilization works really well. I recommend IBIS because you are not limited to stabilized lenses to get stabilization no matter the lens. Because it is Micro 4/3 it is easy to fit legacy lenses with an inexpensive adapter. I bought it used for $300 and a used LUMIX 20mm 1.7 for $150.

(17,342 posts)Love it.
Got it initially for the video features for work, but now am using it exclusively for my photos - Though I do occasionally use a Canon PowerShot 330HS for 'street photography' because it's nice and small. And my iPhone 6sPlus.
I've started to put up more shots on Instagram and Facebook and am getting good reactions.

(9,879 posts)...i'd need to know a couple things:
1. what type of photography do you mostly plan on doing? (i.e. portraits, landscape, fine art, wildlife, action, etc)
2. what's your budget?
i have 3 DSLRs and 3 mirrorless cameras. i shoot full frame, APS-C and micro 4/3. i can explain the pros and cons, but it would help to know what you want to do.

(13,938 posts)the Photo class and photoshop. I need a digital SLR or mirrorless camera for the course. I can't wait but it's gonna be in a couple of months as I have other projects in the pipeline. I never knew retirement could be so BUSY... YMMV
