Emerald Isle has become my favorite beach. From the Outer Banks to the area called the Crystal Coast--which includes Emerald Isle-- and all the way south to Wrightsville and Bald Head, there are distinctive personalities to many of the beach towns. And of course the water is very warm in the summer, unlike the Pacific, due to the Gulf Stream. Even now at the first of November, the ocean temp is in the mid '70's, but it's been too rough to do more than get in about waist high most of this week if at all. It's been all red and yellow flags the whole week I've been here.

What direction are you actually facing in the first couple pictures?

Very beautiful, BTW, nice work!

Edit: I looked up where that is, now I get it. That beach actually runs more or less East-West.

I forget how much more jagged the coast is on the other side of the country.

of the reasons I love this particular beach town. From fall through spring when the sun is south of the equator, you'll get to see both sunrise and sunset over the water.
