Coming technology for Photography

There is some new technology being developed in next gen sensors. No, it's not more pixels. In fact it may be FEWER pixels. A new type of sensor that reads the entire image at one time, called global shutter sensors. The best explanation of how they are different and why those differences are important can be found here:

There's a wealth of info in there. It almost makes me think about upgrading my beloved Nikon D3200!

Of course it might be argued that I'm guilty as Hell of such heresy (as long as we're using the religious metaphor).

This step in mechanics will make very little difference, if any, to any of the photographers I know.

Still, being a gear head, I like to keep up with new stuff. Sony has also announced a prototype of a curved sensor and a new M43 sensor with 30 megs and 8 k video (even I don't care about that).

It ain't the pixels, it's the picture. Now go shoot something.
