(156,297 posts)I use my Nikon D3200 SLR with the zoom lens by Tamron which can go from 18 mm (wide angle) all the way out to 400 mm! For moon shots, I'm always all the way out for maximum size.

(933 posts)If you track the moons motion through the sky, you can take a longer exposure. Devices like these help greatly and you can use them for any celestial body.

You also get cool streaking effects from the stars.
