Dear friends, can you advise me please?

I have an older Canon Digital camera model PowerShot A590. I would like to install this camera to my PC (Win 10). It is now on my laptop which in still Win 7. It is a great camera and I'd like to continue to use it.

Does this camera need an update?

AND: Is the disk labeled Digital Camera Solution Disk the installation disk?
I went to the Canon web help page and they want $$$ to answer these questions.

My desktop is old but still does the job. I am not sure where or if smart to buy a new battery and update my old laptop to Win 10. I need a new battery for that and of course I need to up date to Win 10. Any effect on the already installed camera? Wish I could still use Win 7. It was easy to use. Don't know if there are any changes to the use if I update to Win 10.

I am in no position to buy a new computer or camera but I looks like I can get a battery and Win 10 disk on-line from respected sellers at a price I can afford.

I'm a little lost as to what to do.
Any suggestions?

Are you referring to the Disk?

Wish I felt safe to go back to the Win 7 laptop. I want to post pictures but do not dare.
This Canon camera is not installed on my Win 10 PC. I need to know about the disk I mentioned in my OP.

insert it into the computer, either directly or with a USB multi-card reader?

Then when they are on your PC, print, share, do whatever.

What I was asking is: when you would launch that software, what is your task you want to accomplish?

What the software does is format the pictures and allows a little editing. It's a bit outdated but if you want to have instant download options on where to put pics and whether you want them dated, etc. it does that and will do it for other cameras, I use it for my Nikon because I didn't like the options for the Nikon software.

It's kind of sparse on editing options but the formatting and other options can be useful.

PS. I put the card directly into the computer because downloading from the camera takes twice as long.
