(2,343 posts)A gibbous is quite bright and hard to photograph!

(149,583 posts)It was very bright. I used F8 with the shutter speed @ 10/1600 s. And there was some post-processing as well.
But the toughest part? The moon was nearly straight overhead! My right angle viewfinder saved my neck! And even then it wasn't easy, since my house's roof was very close by. But I was determined.

(2,343 posts)And have yet to post one. It's not easy! Congrats!

(149,583 posts)What equipment do you use?
I have a Nikon D3200 with a Tamron zoom lens 18--400mm. I shoot in manual and have a terrific post processing website called Paint Shop Pro.
You?

(2,343 posts)Telephoto lenses with a couple Sony 70 and 75-300 and 350 lenses. I'm in NW Arkansas so most of my attempts are from April to October. I've got a Dobsonian telescope and am hoping to use it this year to help get some good photos. A fellow telescope nerd would be nice to befriend, but there aren't many around.

(149,583 posts)I don't know if anyone here ever uses one, but you could post that question.
Your zoom lenses sound very cool. I used to have an 18--300mm lens, but I wanted more! The 400 really pulls stuff in. It's great.
I hope you'll post some of your work. This group is friendly and we like to help people learn.
