1. Sublime! I've attempted

shots like this but never with this success.

3. Thanks Oldem

Well, I have a very good close-up lens, so I attached a flash, aimed at the rose with the sky as background and messed around with the picture in post processing.

May I ask what camera equipment you own?

Thanks again,
Allan

2. This is a magical photo! Not sure what you did, but whatever it was, it works!

Love the frame too. The rose seems to burst through it, which enhances its beauty.

4. Thank You Peggy

What I did is explained in the comment above. Guess it worked out well enough.

7. Good photo. Did you use the high key setting?

Sometimes dying flowers are more interesting that ones in their prime. Try again later as the Zinnias start showing their age.

8. Thank you alfredo

If by "high key" you mean increasing saturation I did. I use an application with a setting for bringing out resolution, highlights, etc. It still amazes me how much can be done with digital photography. I don't know if there are any Zinnias around here, otherwise I'd try your suggestion.

10. Thanks alfredo

I'd not known about this. Makes sense. I have a sense for lighting, but never really understood how it works.

I took a look at your Flickr page. Many very good photographs. Do you shoot Olympus Micro Four Thirds?

11. Thanks. Yes I have an Oly EM10.

I went through a dark phase, and now I seem to be going in the other direction.
I use free software for editing: GIMP and the Photos app in MacOS.

Been through my own dark phases, alfredo. I'm glad you are going in the other direction.

13. My moves are slow. I can't get around like I used to. So I have to change away from closeup flowers

and other denizens of the ground.
