(12,922 posts)Well, I have a very good close-up lens, so I attached a flash, aimed at the rose with the sky as background and messed around with the picture in post processing.
May I ask what camera equipment you own?
Thanks again,
Allan

(60,327 posts)Sometimes dying flowers are more interesting that ones in their prime. Try again later as the Zinnias start showing their age.

(12,922 posts)If by "high key" you mean increasing saturation I did. I use an application with a setting for bringing out resolution, highlights, etc. It still amazes me how much can be done with digital photography. I don't know if there are any Zinnias around here, otherwise I'd try your suggestion.

(12,922 posts)I'd not known about this. Makes sense. I have a sense for lighting, but never really understood how it works.
I took a look at your Flickr page. Many very good photographs. Do you shoot Olympus Micro Four Thirds?

I use free software for editing: GIMP and the Photos app in MacOS.

(12,922 posts)Been through my own dark phases, alfredo. I'm glad you are going in the other direction.
