1. They see an open field where they can run, if they feel like it.

I wonder if the view makes them happy...

2. I wonder too.

They can run in that pasture, when they feel like it, but in retirement they're mostly lazy grazers.

5. The gate to the lower field is open

One horse says to the other, once we walk through that gate, it's over. They'll close us in again, back a trailer up to the metal gate, and the only out is to go for a ride.
I mean, if I was a horse and saw that, call it horse sense if you will.

There is such a thing as "horse sense," communication with one another. Hard to stay one step ahead of them sometimes.
