Photography group: Oly and Pany had a press conference last week.
Not much concrete came out of it and certainly nothing that surprised me.
The commentary from Oly re: a new product family was interesting but otherwise it was rumors of promises of maybe some new stuff someday. I know the company is in transition, but c'mon guys . . .
Pany said, well yeah we're gonna' keep on keeping on . . .
However in the background is the good news that more cameras shipped in Feb year over year for the first time in a LOOOG time.
OM Digital:
Weve tried designing an f/1.0 lens, but its hard to deal with the autofocus system.
We are developing a new kind of product family
There will be a product something worth the wait
PEN-F didnt sell well
but a successor isnt excluded yet
We will not go into the Full Frame market
We will not join the L-mount system
Panasonic:
We are developing both MFT cameras and lenses
Lenses with 800+ range are being discussed internally
IMO the Pen F didn't sell because it was priced the same as an OMD with greater capability. Market a product that at least matches the OMD EM1 mk II in features and watch it fly off the shelves. It is esthetically beautiful, functional and a super street camera. I have no need of another body but would buy it just 'cause . . .
