(3,192 posts)Did you actually take that picture?
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)Actually, my husband took it, since he had the window seat. I had asked him to take it, as I could see the mountain approaching.
He did use my camera, but he got the shot. If I'd been in the window seat, it would have been up to me to get it.

(22,218 posts)but the cloud is a bit ominous. Rainer is part of the Cascade volcanic arc.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)The cloud was just a cloud--not a volcanic cloud. The mountain hasn't erupted in modern times, I believe.
It is still active, way down deep inside.

(40,577 posts)This was taken from an airplane? Great job!
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)It's actually pretty easy from the airplane. I've gotten some good airplane photos before, when I had the window seat!
But I agree: this is stunning.

(5,006 posts)I saw Rainier for the first time in 1980, and moved to the PNW in 1985. Haven't been able to leave, in part because this natural masterpiece is in my backyard.
With any luck, I'll be at MRNP snowshoeing next week!
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)It is absolutely my favorite mountain!
Good luck getting to snowshoe next week!

The view must have been stupendous, from that summit.
And no, you were not stupid!

(7,377 posts)I was being comical.
Much like when people ask me "You're in Arizona? Have you been to the Grand Canyon?"
I say, "Nah, I'll go see it when they're finished with it......"

(8,391 posts)and a beautiful mountain. Huge mountain; once in a while we can see the top from 90 miles away in Portland Oregon.
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)How cool it must be to see it from 90 miles away!

(12,043 posts)You got a very good camera and an exceptional husband. What a combination!
CaliforniaPeggy
(156,619 posts)I am very lucky in my husband and my camera being as good as they are.
He used to be our family photographer, but he taught me what he knew, and I took over. Now he just applauds!
