took a break from editing ren faire photos to go shoot th ebarred owl nest again. the owlet is out of the nest but not flying yet. mom and dad are right nearby watching....

then i got a call from a friend asking if i wanted to go shoot some horned owls. one of teh owls had fallen from the nest, was cared for by a wildlife rescue and they returned it to the nest today

while shooting the horned owls i saw a flash of red fly by. thought it was a cardinal but it was a summer tanager instead

(10,124 posts)the reason i ask is because the first shot, especially, has an overall green hue to it, and i have noticed that with my nikons, when i am shooting auto white balance, and there is a lot of foliage in the shot, the image will have a green vibe that i need to correct in post by manipulating the white balance. that doesn't seem to happen with my sony or lumix bodies and i haven't noticed the issue on canon wildlife shots. i think it's a nikon thing. It doesn't seem to happen when i use manual white balance settings.

(5,113 posts)i played around with the WB in post (i shoot raw) but couldnt really get rid of the green cast without making the owlet look weird.
I was in heavy foilage when i shot the photo, that might have a lot to do with it

Combine adorable owlets with beautiful owls and that stunning summer tanager, and I am reduced to a pile of squeeing goo. 🥰
These are absolutely stunning pictures, and I LOVE every one of them to bits! *SIGH*?*
