It looks like you are hovering just above it in thin air. Do you own a helicopter ? Or was it a drone photo shot ?

The bird is facing west and I believe the sun was setting, or about to.

And to answer your other question, about my point of view: I was standing on our local pier, which gives me the proverbial birds-eye view! I've taken many shots from the pier and they generally work out. I've never used a drone.

I always feel very happy when I can catch the frozen surf. There's something magical about it.

The pier is a terrific spot, both for photographing from and for being the centerpiece in a photo!
