It was 75 degrees the day we were there, and you'd have sworn it just snowed.
The white sand (gypsum) had been plowed to the sides of the roads so you could drive on the pavement.
The "sand" was warm to the touch on the surface, but 2-3 inches down it was 5-20 degrees cooler than the surface.
If you haven't seen it, please, please put it on your bucket list.
