For your viewing pleasure: The Blood Red Moon Lunar Eclipse

I was vey fortunate to be able to "shoot the moon" in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. It was an experience I won't forget. These are rough edits. I may be posting them again when I return from my camping trip and have a little more time. I hope you enjoy them.

1. Omigod, my dear Grumpy Old Guy!

These are simply fantastic!

I didn't get to see it; we were clouded out completely.

Were you shooting in raw? I'm curious about your settings and equipment, if you don't mind my asking.

Thanks for these!

2. I certainly don't mind.

If I remember correctly I was shooting at ISO 100, f/8, and adjusting the shutter speed to the changing light levels, from about 1/8th to 1/60th of a second. I was using my Canon EOS R5, Sigma 150-600mm, and a Geekoto tripod. Yes, I always shoot both raw and jpeg.

My strategy was to get the closeup shots while the moon was high in the sky, and then try to get the landscapes as the moon was setting. I knew that the approaching dawn would light the mountains.

I'm not completely satisfied with these. I hope to lighten up the foreground when I get back from my camping trip.

BTW, I had a real bucket list adventure this week. I won't tell you what it is, but I hope to post it here next week. It will definitely blow your mind.

Ross

We didn't get to see it either because of clouds, so--thanks!
